HOW TO DISCIPLE SOMEONE

What is a disciple?

"You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind. This is the great and first commandment. And second is like it: You shall love your neighbor as yourself. On these two commandments depend all the Law and the Prophets." Matthew 22:37- 4

"A new commandment I give you, that you love one another: just I have loved you, you also are to love one another." John 13:34

"Therefore, as you received Christ Jesus the Lord, so walk in him, rooted and built up in him and established in the faith, just as you were taught, abounding in thanksgiving." Colossians 2:6-7

Do I really need to?

Yep - The call is clear ... "Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age." Matthew 28:19-20

What does it look like to disciple someone?

  • Don't overcomplicate it.
  • Build a relationship.
  • Read the Bible together.
  • Pray together.
  • Listen to their struggles.
  • Help them to be more spiritually disciplined.
  • Talk about life.
  • Let them see how you respond to life.
  • Don't try to be a perfect example - just point them to Jesus.
