THE PRAYER RHYTHMS OF CONNECTION POINT CHURCH

At Connection Point Church, we use the practice of Prayer to focus our entire routine and rhythms of our day around Jesus.  We aim to draw our awareness to the presence of the Risen Jesus and the activities of His Holy Spirit at all times.

The Surrender Prayer

to be practiced first thing in the morning

The Surrender Prayer is the KEYSTONE prayer of a disciple of Jesus.  When we follow Jesus, we do what He said and do what He did. The surrender prayer was modeled and commanded by Jesus.
He commanded a surrendered life...
“If anyone would come after me, let him deny himself and take up his cross daily and follow me. For whoever would save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for my sake will save it. For what does it profit a man if he gains the whole world and loses or forfeits himself?"  (Luke 9:23-25).
He modeled a surrendered life...
"And he withdrew from them about a stone’s throw, and knelt down and prayed, saying, “Father, if you are willing, remove this cup from me. Nevertheless, not my will, but yours, be done.” (Luke 22:41-42)

The Harvest Prayer

to be practiced at 10:02 am

One of the prayers that Jesus taught his followers to pray is the harvest prayer.  In Luke 10:2, Jesus says, "The harvest is plentiful, but the laborers are few. Therefore pray earnestly to the Lord of the harvest to send out laborers into his harvest."  At Connection Point Church, we encourage our members to pray 10:02am each day that God would raise up workers for His harvest.  We spend time acknowledging God's active presence in our lives and in the lives of those around us.  We then ask God to present us opportunities to share his love with those around us where we live, work, and play.  If we are actively making disciples, we pray for them by name.

The Kingdom Prayer

to be practiced at 2:14 pm

In John 14:12-14, As Jesus is preparing his disciples for his death and resurrection, he gives them these great words of encouragement: “Truly, truly, I say to you, whoever believes in me will also do the works that I do; and greater works than these will he do, because I am going to the Father.  Whatever you ask in my name, this I will do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son. If you ask me anything in my name, I will do it."  At 2:14pm each day, our church prays a corporate prayer that the Kingdom of God will expand on earth as it is in heaven.
Currently, our church is asking that God will remove all obstacles and provide all resources for our church facility to be constructed.   We invite you to join us each day in the kingdom prayer!

The Examin Prayer

to be practiced at the end of the day

The Examen prayer was developed by Ignatius of Loyola (1491–1556), the founder of the Jesuits. The Examen is a prayer technique designed to help practitioners sense God’s presence and guidance throughout their daily lives. The practice involves a series of reflective prompts that cultivate awareness of God’s activity, and traditionally practitioners engage in it twice daily to track their thoughts, emotions, and spiritual awareness so they can pray with greater intention.
Psalm 139:1  is an example of the attitude we want to bring to our daily Examen prayer:  “O Lord, you have searched me and known me!”.  By taking time at the end of our day to beware of the presence of God throughout our day and become aware of when we were living apart or in rebellion to Him, we can invite Him back into those places of our lives and resolve to live in constant awareness of His presence tomorrow.  The Examen is a prayer of awareness and surrender.
