Worship Wednesday - Let's Talk ABOUT God

When was the last time you asked someone the question..."What's God doing in your life?"

Here's something God's been teaching me lately: We need to talk about God more. Not just to God...about God.

The cold, hard truth is that we call ourselves Christians and say that we have given our lives to God and, yet, many of us will go an entire day, or multiple days, or weeks even, without talking about Him. Our conversations are the outflow of our heart. Therefore, if our heart truly loves and longs for more of God, we should be talking about Him!

Therefore, since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses, let us also lay aside every weight, and sin which clings so closely, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us, looking to Jesus, the founder and perfecter of our faith, who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is seated at the right hand of the throne of God. - Hebrews 12:1-2
Yes, it's easy to ask another guy how work is going or about what's wrong with the Cowboys, but the Holy Spirit has been challenging me lately to "set aside every weight ... and look to Jesus, the founder and perfecter of our faith..." I want to see more of God. The longer I live, the more I want to know how He works, and one of the best ways to do that is to ask others what He's doing in their lives.
One of the primary purposes of the church is to encourage one another in our faith:

And let us consider how to stir up one another to love and good works, not neglecting to meet together, as is the habit of some, but encouraging one another, and all the more as you see the day drawing near. Hebrews 10:24-25

To worship something or someone means to give that object your heart and/or mind. Therefore, we are not only worshipping God when we talk about him, but we are encouraging someone else/stirring up someone else to do the same! Sure, it may feel awkward at first, but why would a Christian NOT want to ask another brother or sister in Christ what God's been doing or teaching them?! Let's talk more about God!

Maybe if you have a minute, type a comment and let me know..."What's God been doing in your life?"

'Conversations are the outflow of our heart', so very true!

I like how Chase said "outflow of our heart".

God is teaching me how we grow stronger by waiting on God. Waiting allows me to see how God works out situations and I am eager to talk about God when I see his work being done.
